Above Ground or Inground Pump?
An aboveground pump normally is wired for 110/120 volt and comes with a cord and plugs into a standard wall plug. This wall plug circuit should also be a dedicated line and GFCI protected. An Above Ground pump also requires water to be gravity feed into the pumps basket as these are not self priming pumps.
Inground pool pumps are normally hard wired for 220/240 volt while they can be switched to 110 volt. Inground pumps do not require the pool water to be gravity feed as an aboveground pump. These pumps are know to be self priming and can pull water up from certain distances.
